Why Pelvic Health Matters

Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles that support healthy function of multiple body systems. When these muscles are imbalanced (too tight, weak, or uncoordinated), they can lead to symptoms that include (but are not limited to):

Pelvic, low-back, or hip pain

Urinary leakage or urgency

Painful intercourse

Pelvic organ prolapse symptoms

Abdominal separation

Constipation or bowel dysfunction

Postpartum recovery challenges

Core instability or weakness

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect at my first appointment?

Prior to coming in, you will complete a health history intake form, which will give us relevant background and allow us to personalize your evaluation. When you come in, we will continue to discuss your story, symptoms, and goals for therapy. You will get a comprehensive physical examination. In addition to external evaluation of joints, muscles, and nerves, this may include an internal evaluation, given your comfort and consent. No assessment or treatment will take place without your consent. We will collaborate on a treatment plan suited to your needs and provide you with an initial home program.

We understand that coming for pelvic therapy can be a new experience, and so above all, we strive to make you feel comfortable and heard.

What should I bring/wear to my appointment?

Any relevant testing/imaging you may have completed. Comfortable clothing/shoes in which you can easily move.

Who can come for pelvic health therapy?

Anyone with a pelvic floor! That means all people. However, we do not currently see pediatrics.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on your needs and is different for each patient. During your evaluation, we will work together to create a plan and will be able to adjust it along the way.

How do I know if I can benefit from pelvic health therapy?

You may check out the conditions we treat, but you can also speak directly with our pelvic health specialist by scheduling a free consultation at a time that is convenient for you. During this 15-20 minute call, you can have any other questions answered and meet your therapist!
